Abdulla Waheed

Abdulla Waheed is a Maldivian calligrapher from Eydhafushi in Baa Atoll who worked at the Office of the President. He studied in the government's Thaana calligraphy class alongside Musthafa Mohamed, later the designer of Faruma, and for a time wrote out by hand the official documents the President signed.

Hassan Hameed based his 1996 font A_Waheed, later MV A Waheed, on Waheed's lettering in a 1995 calendar of the Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs. Waheed reviewed the glyphs through Hassan Shujau, and the font is named after him. Hameed's bold display font Aammu FK, later MV Aammu FK, was made from a set of bold letters Waheed had drawn for stencil-cut banners. Waheed advised on the 2015 revisions of both fonts. His calligraphy is also credited in A_Faseyha, A_Utheem, Aammu FalaRasmee and A_Randhoo (1995), and in A Reethi (2002), made at the President's Office.
