Ahmed Asif
Ahmed Asif was the head of IT at the Maldivian President's Office. On 31 October 1987 he completed Com-Thaana, software that turned text typed in Latin letters into Thaana on a computer.
In 2002, after Windows XP brought Unicode Thaana and the office's MLS font began causing problems, he asked Musthafa Mohamed to design a new font and assigned Ibrahim Yasir to build it. Each stage went ahead on his advice. He named the first version A_Reethi, and added the A_ prefix so the fonts would sort to the top of alphabetical font lists. On the advice of Ibrahim Naeem (Saikuraa), the font's ﷲ was drawn the way it is written by hand.
Faruma's font files credit him as assisting, and Musthafa Mohamed's account of the font singles out his part in it.
