Nasri Khattar

Nasri Khattar (1911–1998) was a Lebanese architect and type designer, best known for Unified Arabic, a typeface that reduced each Arabic letter's several joined forms to one, making the script easier to set with the printing technology of his time. He was nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize in 1986 for his lifelong work on the project.

Hassan Hameed's MV Nasri (2018) applies his approach to Thaana; its font file says it is based on Khattar's work.
